About the Program
In line with the visionary directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research — may God preserve him — which support education and academic empowerment, the Scholarship Programs were launched as a noble initiative in 1997. The aim is to provide high-quality educational opportunities for outstanding students, enable them to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and prepare qualified national competencies that contribute to serving society and supporting sustainable development in the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates.
The Scholarship Programs represent one of the leading strategic initiatives that reflect Sharjah’s commitment to investing in human capital as the main driver of development and progress, by providing academic support and enabling students to enroll in leading higher education institutions within the emirate.
Higher Education Institutions Covered by the Program
The Scholarship Program receives applications from eligible categories who meet the program’s requirements and regulations to study in the following institutions in Sharjah:
- University of Sharjah
- American University of Sharjah
- University of Khorfakkan
- University of Kalba
- University of Al Dhaid
- University of the Arts Sharjah (Academy of Visual Arts)
- Sharjah Maritime Academy
Note: Scholarship applications for the higher education institutions listed above shall be submitted through the Council’s electronic portal. Scholarships offered by higher education institutions not included in the above list shall be administered in accordance with the nomination and evaluation procedures adopted by each respective institution.
The program aims to support eligible groups according to approved policies and regulations, providing distinguished educational opportunities and enabling students to complete their academic journey in leading institutions in Sharjah.
Scholarships Department
The Scholarships Department, under the Student and Alumni Affairs Administration at the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research, is responsible for managing and organizing scholarship programs and overseeing the implementation of the policies and regulations governing them, thereby contributing to expanding access to higher education for eligible groups.
The Department is responsible for receiving and reviewing scholarship applications, verifying their compliance with the approved criteria, and coordinating with higher education institutions regarding nomination and admission procedures. It also follows up on scholarship beneficiaries and ensures that they meet the requirements for maintaining the scholarship throughout their academic journey.
The Department further oversees the administration of scholarships for bachelor's and postgraduate programs at the higher education institutions included in the Scholarship Program in the Emirate of Sharjah, and works to develop the services and procedures related to scholarships in accordance with the principles of fairness, transparency, and efficiency.
The Department contributes to supporting students' academic success, enhancing the quality of higher education outcomes, and preparing qualified national talent that contributes to serving the community and supporting development in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Academic Levels Covered
Undergraduate Scholarships
The scholarship program offers outstanding educational opportunities to academically distinguished graduates of public and private schools from approved categories, enabling them to enroll in bachelor’s degree programs at a number of leading higher education institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Postgraduate Scholarships
The program also provides opportunities for eligible candidates to pursue postgraduate studies to build specialized national expertise and support research and innovation in Sharjah.
Eligible Categories and Application Requirements
First: Undergraduate Applicants
Eligible Categories
- UAE nationals holding a Sharjah family book
- Children of Emirati mothers holding a Sharjah family book
- Children of imams and muezzins affiliated with the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah
- Students with disabilities who are registered with — or under the follow-up of — Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, those enrolled at the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties, and persons with other categories of disability, in accordance with the criteria approved by the Council
Requirements
- Must have a high school certificate meeting the minimum required average for each institution/program
- Must be a current academic year graduate
- Must obtain admission from one of the listed institutions
- Must complete the application and upload all required documents online during the application period
- Must meet all scholarship policies and regulations

Requirements
- Hold academic admission to one of the higher education institutions included in the Scholarship Program.
- Complete the application, satisfy all terms and criteria, and attach the required documents through the website within the announced application period.

Scholarship Coverage Percentage
The scholarship percentage is determined based on the income level of the parent or guardian, as follows:
- A full scholarship (100%) is granted for bachelor's and postgraduate programs if the monthly income is less than AED 50,000.
- A partial scholarship (50%) is granted for bachelor's and postgraduate programs if the monthly income is AED 50,000 or more.
The scholarship percentage is determined based on the income level of the parent or guardian, as follows:
Bachelor
- A full scholarship (100%) is granted for bachelor's programs if the monthly income is less than AED 30,000.
- A partial scholarship (50%) is granted for bachelor's programs if the monthly income is AED 30,000 or more
Postgraduate
- A full scholarship (100%) is granted for postgraduate programs if the monthly income is less than AED 50,000.
- A partial scholarship (50%) is granted for postgraduate programs if the monthly income is AED 50,000 or more.
Children of Imams and Muezzins affiliated with the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah:
- For scholarships granted to the children of imams, the scholarship amount for bachelor's programs is set at AED 25,000 per semester, excluding the summer term, in accordance with what is approved by the Council.
Important Notes
- Applicants must complete the scholarship application and attach all required documents within the specified application period. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the announced deadline will not be considered
- Applicants are advised to review the eligibility terms and criteria and to ensure that they meet all requirements before submitting their application, so as to ensure that the evaluation and selection procedures are carried out in accordance with the approved policies and regulations.
- The Council shall bear no fees or financial obligations arising from students who have not completed the university's admission or registration procedures, or who have confirmed their academic registration and approved their course schedules without commencing their studies or adhering to attendance, in accordance with the rules and regulations in force at the educational institution.
Application Periods
Applications for the Scholarship Program are open from July 1 to July 31 through the electronic portal of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
